I’ve been having a play with striping tape. The possibilities with this are endless. I ordered some online and have been itching to try it out. In this instance I used it with Nail Harmony Gelish. The colours I used were blended across all 5 nails, mixing colours on each nail side to side to give an ombre effect. Colours are Black Shadow > Bella’s Vampire > Caution > Up in the Blue > Princess Tiami.
I’ve overdone the striping, there is far too much on these nails but it’s an experiment and also good just to play around! The pack of tape I bought had various colours, but I personally like the Gold and Silver. They are really effective on dark colours but can be quite subtle on lighter shades too. I tried a fuchsia pink tape, which could be nice in small doses!
I am going to have a trawl around and make a Pinterest Striping Board, for ideas and inspiration. I saw a set of nails that had been painted then masked using the striping tape, then another colour added, so that’s the way I’m going next! It looked really effective.
I painted two coats of colour, then applied the tape, then applied top coat to seal it in. I found it fiddly to do with one hand, but it’s probably lots easier working on someone else.
The way it catches the light is lovely. This tape adds a real finishing touch to a manicure. I can’t wait to be let loose on the clients now! Or maybe I’ll try a bit on my toes….
